Pirates not focusing on Sundowns

The Buccaneers find themselves as joint top leaders in the Absa Premiership with Mamelodi Sundowns on 50 points.

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids insists they won’t be carried away about what is happening around them, saying their focus is on their game against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium tonight.

The Buccaneers find themselves as joint top leaders in the Absa Premiership with Mamelodi Sundowns on 50 points, with three games remaining to the end of the season.

“After the three games, three wins situation, it really gives us time to work on different aspects of defending, in terms of attack and of course in transition. We have to focus at the task at hand and not to get sucked in all the hype, stuff that is going on around us and focus at the task at hand,” Davids told the media.

Davids added that every player had to focus on performing well and results would follow.

“Each player has to focus on their task and that will ultimately get us the result. It’s not really the result we are focused on the result, we have to focus on the performance and the rest will follow. As important as it is (the game), it is still three points at stake and we have to focus on each game individually. Our focus is on Maritzburg now and then we prepare for the next games after that.”
