Legs of Thunder, as Sikhosana is known in football circles, says Pirates is struggling because the team hasn’t appointed a permanent coach since Muhsin Ertugral’s resignation.
The appointment of Augusto Palacios to stir the ship while the club searches for a suitable coach is noted as the reason for Pirates’ poor performance by the former Bafana Bafana striker.
Palacious has introduced few players to the starting XI since taking over as interim coach leaving some of the regular starters on the bench.
The club’s goalkeeping department has come under fire with Ertugral changing from one goalkeeper to the other as each one that was given a chance was shambolic between the sticks for the Soweto giants.
“There is a lot that Pirates needs to do. First they need to get a good quality coach that will do what is best for the club. This interim coach thing doesn’t work. You have Augusto Palacios who comes from the club’s academy and he has players that he prefers over others,” Sikhosana told SABC sports.
“You have quality players that are not even making the bench. I wish they can get a coach right now during the Caf break in January so that a new coach has enough time to assess each player.”
