Pirates legend warns SuperSport ahead of TP Mazembe clash

Motale, who led Orlando Pirates to the 1995 Champions League title, says Mazembe’s experience in the continent – having won six continental titles in recent years – will prove to be SuperSport’s biggest poser.

“It is going to be a huge mountain to climb for them,” he told Phakaaathi.

“I know that SuperSport players are psychologically smart, but TP Mazembe have been playing in cup finals for a long time now, so they know all the tactics. They will dive around, apply time delaying tactics and so forth.

“SuperSport have to be smart, play their game and don’t get intimidated by all those tricks,” Motale added.

“But they are playing at home and they need the supporters to encourage them to score two goals because they cannot afford to be complacent and say they will score one goal and look to contain them. They need to score two goals or else it will be hard for them.”

Motale has a lot of confidence in Eric Tinkler’s side and backs them to come out on top.

“We have seen in the past encounters that they were able to score more than two goals at home and away. We also need the supporters to come through and be their 12th player because it is a precious opportunity for the country and everybody needs to support them.”
