Pirates deny interest in Shonga

Orlando Pirates have rubbished reports that Zambian striker Justin Shonga has attracted interest from teams in Tanzania and Egypt.

Reports suggest that Al-Ahly are interested in signing the Zambian striker from Pirates.

However, Pirates administrative officer Floyd Mbele says the club has not been contacted over Shonga’s availability.

“No team has contacted us about Shonga’s availability,” Mbele was quoted by Isolezwe.

Mbele added that the club will not stand in Shonga’s way should they receive offers for his services.

“When there are offers tabled for players, we will not stand in anyone’s way. We have never stopped any players. We have players that have gone overseas before, if the offer is good we will consider it. We will announce if there are any developments or interest from overseas teams in any of Pirates’ players.“

Pirates have signed Siphesihle Ndlovu, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Bongani Sam, Kabelo Dlamini, Tebogo Tlolane, Gabadinho Mhango and Austin Muwowo and are expected to release some players before the season starts.
