Pirates coach impressed with SuperSport

Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic says that looking at the quality SuperSport United have in their ranks, they don't deserve to be where they are in the Absa Premiership standings.

The Serb was speaking after Matsatsantsa a Pitori ended the Buccaneers’ five-game winning streak when they held them to a goalless draw at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Wednesday night.

“We played against a very good team,” said Sredojevic. “They don’t deserve to be where they are in the league table looking at the players they have. They deserve to be much higher and personally, I think they have to be title contenders at this stage.”

The Pretoria outfit not only ended the Soweto side’s winning streak, but they dented their chances of winning the league title as Bucs sit in second place with 46 points, trailing leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points. Downs have a game in hand.

But the coach was content with his charges’ display, adding that they dominated the game and were just unlucky not to see at least one of their chances finding the net with midfielder Mpho Makola hitting the woodwork twice.

“We had a good match. We were dominant in possession for most of the match. I am satisfied with the way we applied ourselves, we had top-class build-ups and in the process we created several chances,” he said.

Pirates next play AmaZulu at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
