Lorch’s return to Pirates following a lengthy knee injury has been quite visible for coach Jose Riveiro’s team, with his come-back against All Stars FC in the Nedbank Cup really displaying his importance for the Buccaneers as he came on in the second half only to help the team win the tie 2-0 by making an assist and scoring the other goal.
The 29-year-old was once again the mastermind in Pirates’ last league game win over Richards Bay, with the midfielder displaying some good performance as they beat the KZN side 2-0 to take their points tally to 40 after 24 games and unseating SuperSport United in position two on the log, even though the sides are level on points.
Following his good performance against the Natal Rich Boys, Lorch was named man-of-the-match for his efforts, but he admitted that the game was very tight and he needed to step up his game so that his teammates can also follow suit.
“First of all let me thank the man above for the talent and the opportunity. We started very well and we knew that they were going to play with three defenders at the back. The coach told us that we must keep the width. It was not easy playing against Richards Bay, they are a good team, but I think our attitude (helped us) and we needed that, that is why we got the result,” said the Bucs player.
