Pirates to announce new coach next Monday
Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has revealed that the club will announce new coach next week Monday.
Khoza made the announcement during a press conference at Rand Stadium on Monday morning.
“Next week Monday, we will be announcing a new coach. We were restricted to do so in January by prohibitive buy-out clauses,” Khoza is quoted as saying by the club’s Twitter account.
“It’s not easy to find a coach for the club, and even less so when people you are looking for are held by contract obligations.”
Pirates have been without a coach since Muhsin Ertugral left the job in November last year, following a 6-1 drubbing by SuperSport United.
Augusto Palacios was then appointed as an interim coach as the club searches for a new coach.
Palacios’ stint has not been a successful one though, as he was on the bench when Pirates suffered a 6-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The loss was not handled well by some of the club supporters, who then resorted to violence.
Khoza condemned the violence and called on the authorities to come after the perpetrators.
“Violence is not an answer; violence diminishes any legitimate reasons in any protest situation.
“I pronounce here today, clearly and unequivocally, that we support the law in taking full action against the perpetrators.
“I want to thank the police who opened this investigation. I hope SABC and SuperSport will assist with footage to get to the bottom of this.”
