Amajita coach Thabo Senong says past results will count for nothing when they lock horns with Zambia in the semi-final of the Caf Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka this evening.
The Young Chipolopolo have beaten South Africa twice before the competition, having met in the final of the Cosafa Cup last year and in an international friendly in February.
“This will be an exciting match as both the Cosafa region countries will be fighting for a place in the final of the Caf U20 Afcon. Zambia beat us in the Cosafa Cup final, and again in the international friendly match that we played before the start of this tournament, but those matches will count for nothing as they are all in the past. I believe it is going to be one entertaining clash and the team that wants it more will come out victorious,” Senong told SAFA.net.
Amajita have already qualified for the FIFA World Cup in South Korea by virtue of making the last four at the competition.
They will be looking to reach the final of the continental youth competition for the second time having done so in 1997 when they finished as runners-up.
