Orlando Pirates announce new coach

Sredojevic replaces Kjell Jonevret, who resigned as the Bucs coach yesterday (Wednesday).

Jonevret was named Pirates coach on February 20, and lasted just 18 official matches, winning six, drawing seven and losing five.

Four of those victories came en route to the Nedbank Cup final, but the Buccaneers were hammered 4-1 by SuperSport in the decider at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Sredojevic, who coached Pirates during the 2006/07 season, become Bucs’ seventh head coach since 2014.

Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza announced Sredojevic’s return to Pirates in a press conference on Thursday.

“We also welcome back Milutin Sredejovic, coach Micho. A man who’s integrity I respect,” said Khoza.

“When he left, he left graciously. Now, he comes back with a great record and experiences throughout the continent.

“We will also announce his technical support staff after further discussions.”

Meanwhile, Khoza has also revealed that the club will be making announcements regarding player movements.

“We are hoping to finalize one or two signings before the start of the season in key positions.”
