Nyirenda explains Chawapiwa’s absence

Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda says he does not have a problem with star player, Talent Chawapiwa.

Chawapiwa, who was criticised by Nyirenda after last weekend’s loss to Orlando Pirates, did not make the 18-man match day squad that played to a goalless draw against Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

“That’s my son and I am here to manage the team and I am managing human resource, those two things. When you are a coach you must know the two things you are doing, you are managing the club, a club is an organisation and rules prevail, I go by the rules. If I faulter Mr Khurishi Mphahlele will want me to account so if a player does something you reprimand him, he has to show remorse to come back and that’s all,” said Nyirenda after the game.

“You see the biggest problem we have in Africa is appeasement and appeasement will not give us anything. When your child is wrong, he is wrong and you must bring him to do normal things because if you don’t, what will happen to the other children? They will do the same thing then the whole team is broken.

“So if he made a mistake he is going to apologise and I am all ears, I am a born again Christian. I am a pastor so if forgiveness is there then it’s there for everyone. So it’s just one of those things in an organisation but I have nothing against my boy, he is a very good player,” added Nyirenda.
