Nomvethe, who will celebrate his 40th birthday in December, is set to make a return to the Absa Premiership with AmaZulu.
The veteran striker urges youngsters to learn from old players like him.
“The youngsters need to learn from the so-called old players like myself,” Nomvethe told Phakaaathi.
He continued: “When I look at my age and the rate at which I am going, and then I look at the youngsters who have played with their careers, it breaks my heart because they are letting themselves and the game down.
“There are a lot of them … I can’t even mention them by names. I am still playing and performing at the best of my ability, but the young players have not learnt from that. It is not because I am special or something like that.”
‘Bhele’, as Nomvethe is affectionately known, says he is not contemplating retirement yet, but says when he does, he will not walk away from the game which he has served for over two decades.
“I would consider coaching offers if they were to come my way because at the end of the day, it is impossible for me to play forever … although I would love to.”
