Nomvethe hopes to help AmaZulu down Sundowns

By doing so, Nomvethe will also be helping his former teams, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, in the race for league honours.

Nomvethe, however, insists that Usuthu have their own targets to meet this season.

“We are challenging for a place in the top eight. This is a big match. We are at home and we need to get the maximum points in order to push for a top eight spot,” Nomvethe said.

Usuthu are currently 10th on the table, but are a point away from a top eight spot and will be looking to do a double over Masandawana, whom they beat 2-1 away in Pretoria last year.

“It won’t be easy for us and them as well. We all need points but for different reasons. We have a lot of games left. It is still possible for us to finish in the top eight,” the 40-year-old forward added.

“We cannot afford to relax because we still have a lot of games left. We have to take it one game at a time. Each game is a cup final for us now. We need to focus and win games so that we can move further away from the relegation zone.”

The match at King Zwelithini Stadium is set to start at 6pm.
