No Pirates player in Bafana squad

Bafana Bafana caretaker coach Owen da Gama named his 25-man squad to face Guinea Bissau and Angola in international friendlies later this month.

What caught many people by surprise was the fact that not a single Orlando Pirates player was named in the squad.

Mpho Makola, Thabo Matlaba and Brighton Mhlongo were included in the previous Bafana squad that faced Senegal in the 2018 World Cup qualifier, but the trio was left out of the team for the upcoming friendlies.

Bucs have not been performing well so far this season, and that could be the reason why none of their players were selected.

Also failing to make the cut from the previous squad were May Mahlangu, Thuso Phala, Daine Klate, Clayton Daniels, Ayanda Patosi, Asavela Mbekile, Eleazar Rodgers, Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Rivaldo Coetzee and Bradley Grobler, who were also part of the previous squad, are nursing injuries.

Bafana will play Guinea and Angola on March 25 and 28 respectively.
