No end in sight in Coetzee-Ajax standoff

Wantaway defender Rivaldo Coetzee is yet to report for preseason training, leaving Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo frustrated ahead of the new season.

Coetzee is said to be unhappy and wishing to leave the team, but Ajax reportedly want R13 million for the Bafana Bafana defender.

In the meantime, Coetzee has not pitched up for training at Ikamva.

A visibly irritated Menzo told reporters the Coetzee-Ajax impasse was messing up his team’s preparations for the next season.

“I’m disappointed‚ but look‚ it’s football‚” said Menzo.

“It shows no respect for your teammates. If it is an issue with the club‚ then take it to the club‚ but don’t involve your teammates who work with you.

“It’s a bit silly and petty‚ but OK‚ we make choices in life, and sometimes we don’t make the right ones. It’s a pity.”

Orlando Pirates are believed to be leading Mamelodi Sundowns in the race to sign the 20-year-old defender.
