AmaTuks could not find a way past Tshakhuma who beat them 2-1 to prevent them from jumping back to second position on the log.
Stellenbosch 1 (T. Zwane) Super Eagles 0
Tony Zwane’s solitary strike was enough for Stellenbosch to secure their first win in a while, curbing their downward spiral in the process. Stellies had gone six games without a win which saw them fall down the leader. But last weekend’s win stabilises them as they are now fifth and five points behind leaders Highlands Park.
The defeat pushed Eagles back into the relegation scrap.
Witbank Spurs (M. Raphepele; B. Shabalala) 2 Jomo Cosmos 2 (F. Nsabiyumva; L. Mntambo)
Siyavutha came alight in the latter stages of the match as they came form 2-0 down to equalise and ensure a share of the spoils. Frederic Nsabiyumva had put Ezenkosi ahead with a penalty conversion before captain Linda Mntambo made it 2-0 early in the second half. Moses Raphepele and Bongani Shabalala equalised late in the second half to keep the scores level at 2-2.
AmaTuks 1 (T. Motliasaga) TTM 2 (T. Ndlovu; K. Nkoana)
Tshakuma’s Khunadi Nkoana scored with the last kick of the match to steal away the three points from AmaTuks who were looking to keep within touching distance of leaders. Themba Ndlov opened the scoring giving Tshakuma the lead before Tshepo Mosiatlaga equalised for the varsity boys. But Nkaoana had the last say.
Richards Bay 0 Highlands Park 3 (L. Mbatha; S. Mthethwa (og); P. Shalulile
As it would have been expected, the Lions of the North easily collected the three points away to embattled Rich Boys with Lindokuhle Mbatha opening the scoring in the first half. Things got worse for the home side when on-loan Orlando Pirates defender Sandile Mthethwa scored an own goal. Peter Shalulile continued his scoring run as he sealed the envelope for Owen Da Gama’s boys.
Ubuntu 0 CT All Stars 2 (L. Saal; L. Setelele)
Ubuntu could not build on their surprising win against Mthatha Bucks as they were beaten 2-0 at home. Lionel Saal and Lucky Setelele were the heroes of this Cape Town derby as they scored a goal each to ensure Igugu leKapa do not fall too behind in the promotion race.
Royal Eagles 1 (J. Sauls) Black Leopards 1 (M. Musonda)
Joshua Sauls and Mwape Musonda were the scorers in the dreary draw at Harry Gwala Stadium. Eagles remain 14th and just three points above bottom placed Ubuntu FC. A win would have taken Lidoda Duvha straight into the promotion race.
Uthongathi 2 (S. Mnguni) Real Kings 0
Sibusiso Mnguni scored a brace to become the KwaZulu-Natal derby hero and earn his side a valuable three points which have given them some reprive as they are now a healthy six point clear of the relegation spot.
Mbombela United 2 (T. Liphoko; S. Zwane) Mthatha Bucks 1 (L. Mathosi)
Tingwenyama are now fourth but tied on 22 points with Jomo Cosmos and AmaTuks after a good win over embattled Mthatha Bucks. Amathol’amnyama’s slide continued and the only Eastern Cape-based team are now 12th and four points above bottom placed Ubuntu.
