Next stop Europe for Bafana youngster

Links, who is currently at Egyptian side Alassiouty Sport, impressed on Tuesday as Bafana thrashed Namibia 4-1 to reach the plate final at the Cosafa Cup in Polokwane.

The 19-year-old moved to Al Assiouty from Platinum Stars in January.

“We have always known Gift is a top player … we tracked him for a long time. Going to Egypt has been a breath of fresh air for him, the level is very good and he has learned a lot,” said his agent Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group (SVG).

“He has a good coach there, he will keep learning and it only bodes well. The next step is to go to Europe, he has already generated interest in Europe, he is still only 19 and the rest will follow. I am sure he will be a big asset to the national team.”
