Reports coming out of Denmark suggest that Phiri has told his club Brondby IF that he would like to stay at the club following rumours of New York City FC looking to sign him at the end of the current season.
“I have been negotiating with the club for a long time about a contract and I tell them every day that this is where I want to be‚” Phiri told Danish publication BBC.
Brondby sports director Troels Bech says the uncertainty surrounding the players future has was frustrating and says they would like to keep the midfielder at the club.
“It has been a rather long dance‚ we have been talking and we have a few months to dance still. It remains to be seen [whether an agreement will be reached]‚” Bech said.
