The inaugural professional women’s league is set to start this coming weekend, with all the games set to take centre stage at the Nike Football Centre in Soweto.
Safa acting general manager for football business Mzwandile Maforvane said the association had been working hard to prepare for the opening round of matches and called in football fans to come to the stadium.
Maforvane said: “The association has been hard at work in preparation for this weekend’s matches and ensuring that the league kicks off. We urge fans in and around Soweto to come out in their numbers in support of the women’s game. For the league to be a success, we need all stakeholders, which include media and fans to show their support and assist in taking the league forward.”
The league will consist of 12 teams from all over the country.

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies v University of Western Cape
Durban Ladies v Tsunami Queens
Coal City Wizards v University of Johannesburg
Sunday fixtures:
Golden Ladies v Thunderbirds Ladies
First Touch Academy v Tshwane University of Technology
Mamelodi Sundowns v Richmond Ladies
