Ndoro case heading to the high court

Ajax Cape Town’s review of the arbitrator’s verdict in the Tendai Ndoro case will be heard by the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Thursday, April 19.

Ajax were granted a review of Advocate Cassim’s arbitration award by Judge Sutherland last week, and they have applied for and been granted a hearing.

According to Fifa rules, a player is not allowed to feature for three clubs in one season. Ndoro has played for Orlando Pirates, Al Faisaly (Saudi Arabia) and Ajax this season. But the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) then ruled that Ndoro could play.

The PSL appealed the DRC’s decision and took the matter to arbitration, and the arbitrator Cassim referred the case to Fifa, declaring the DRC had no jurisdiction over the case.

Ajax took the matter to the high court for an urgent interdict, which was dismissed, but the judge nevertheless granted Ajax an urgent review of the arbitrator’s verdict.
