Mumble encourages PSL clubs to have women’s teams

This comes after Safa president Danny Jordaan on Thursday announced that the national women’s football League will start in 2019.

Speaking at press conference in Sandton where Sasol also announced the four-year extension of their sponsorship deal with Safa, Mumble revealed that the national women’s League will have 12 teams, which will also include a university team.

“We will give more details by the end of next week. We will have a clear idea on the way forward. But we will have nine provincial teams, a university team and two teams from the PSL who have women teams meaning Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic we have incorporated them to start and kick-off the National League in 2019,” said the Safa CEO.

“We want to encourage everybody to start women football clubs, including PSL clubs. Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic have shown the way and they also strengthen the League with the way they coach and manage the teams and all of those things are good examples for PSL clubs to follow. We have encouraged them in the past and we welcome them if they do start,” he added.
