The DStv Premiership has been graced by the return of Kgoloko Thobejane, who has returned to Baroka FC first team as head coach, the club confirmed on Sunday.
Famously known for his phrase “football will kill you”, Thobejane has been in charge of the club’s reserves since in May this year.
Thobejane replaces Thoka Matsimela, who has been at the helm of the club since last year in November following the departure of Dylan Kerr. The news of Thobejane coming back to the club comes after the Limpopo based side lost 1-0 to Chippa United the day before.
Bakgaga haven’t won a match in their last six matches, with their last win dating back to September, when they defeated Sekhukhune FC 1-0.
The club is in position 13 on the league standings with eight points after 10 games, three points away from bottom of the table side TS Galaxy.
“Baroka Football Club would like to confirm the following changes to the technical team. Mr. Kgoloko Thobejane is promoted to Senior Team and will be assisted by Vincent Kobola, together with goalkeeper coach Naughty Legau and Albert Mothupa.
Thobejane’s first stint with Baroka was in 2015, but he was demoted to being an assistant in January 2017, before eventually making his way up a month later. His spell with the Diski Challenge has been quite a decent one for the coach, and he leaves the team in position five on the standings with 19 points after 11 games. His last game with the reserves saw him guide the club to a 4-2 win against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, who are in form this season
