Bidvest Wits striker Gift Motupa believes he has done enough this season to win the Footballer of the Season and Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot awards.
Motupa hit the ground running when he joined Wits after leaving Orlando Pirates last season, the 24-year-old has scored nine goals in 18 matches for the clever Boys.
Black Leopards striker Mwape Musonda has scored four goals more than Motupa, with 12 goals for the Limpopo side, and is in line to win the Golden Boot awards.
“My form has been good for me and the team as well. I’ve got the support of the team and the players,” Motupa was quoted by IOL.
“Looking at the remaining games, I still think that there’s an opportunity [to win the top goalscorer award]. I’ve got to continue working hard and being consistent. I still think that it’s possible I agree [that I am one of the contenders for Footballer of the Season]. I’ve been doing well for my club and I believe that if I can offer more than I offered, then I still have an opportunity to win the Player of the Season.”
