Mosimane reserved after Champions League victory

Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane downplayed the Brazilians' 3-1 victory over AS Vita on Wednesday night.

The game reached the half-time at 1-1, with Anthony Laffor’s opening goal equalling the score five minutes after AS Vita had found the back of the net.

Yannick Zakri and Sibusiso Vilakazi finished off with two excellent goals that put the game beyond the home team at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“In football, it is always important to have humility after victory,” he said after the win moved the Brazilians to the summit of Group C.

“To say that the match was easy would be arrogant. It was not easy, and remember that the score was 1-1 at half-time. It was not easy.

“The two goals we scored in the second half were the result of mistakes by their defence. We pressed them and stole the ball, saw opportunities and scored.”
