The draw for Africa’s premium club competition is set to take place on Wednesday in Cairo, where Downs, with the likes of defending champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Tunsia’s Esperance together with Egyptian giants Al Ahly will be seeded.
Mazembe qualified as winners of the 2017 Confederation Cup after when they beat SuperSport United last November, meaning they will not be seeded like their African counterparts.
“The challenge in the group are TP Mazembe,” said Mosimane.
“Let’s avoid Mazembe. I don’t want Mazembe in my group because we have two big giants in our group and anything can happen. So Mazembe can go to Esperance or Al Ahly, they must go there… they must go with Wydad Casablanca and they must move away from us,” added the former Bafana Bafana coach.
He continued: “Nobody wants Mazembe around because they are not seeded. So we don’t want them in our group… so let them go somewhere else.”
