City lost their coach, Luc Eymael, to Bloemfontein Celtic after the Belgian trainer resigned.
Molekwa worked under Eymael, as his assistant has led the team once so far in a midweek goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.
“The chairman [Jonny Mogaladi] has given me the task of leading the team until the end of the season. That’s what I am doing now,” said Molekwa.
“For us, it’s a big point. It’s like three points because Sundowns are African champions.
“No one gave us a chance, but I told my players that it’s 11 versus 11 on the field of play. Yes, they have names, but they don’t play,” the former Bay United player said.
“I told the players that we don’t know the reason why the coach left. The situation is beyond our control. We have a job to do.
“As players, their job is to play football, that’s what they’re hired for. They have contracts, they must focus. Nothing is impossible as long as we work together.”
