Modiba not under no pressure to score goals

The left-back turned-winger’s efforts have helped Matsatsantsa a Pitori to stay slightly afloat in a transitional phase on the back of Caf Confederation Cup hangover.

A total of five goals for Modiba in the league this season sees him as the club’s leading marksman in a period where United appear to be struggling to find their feet in the Absa Premiership.

However, the former Mpumalanga Black Aces player says he is not carrying a burden in terms of having to hit the back of the net, as his side prepare to host Gavin Hunt’s struggling Bidvest Wits tomorrow at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

“I am not going to put pressure on myself. Even if I can score goals, I am not a striker, I am an attacking player,” said Modiba.

“If I don’t score goals, but create something for my team-mates I think it will be a good thing because the strikers will have an opportunity to score. Wherever I play I make sure that I switch my mind on.”

Kingston Nkhatha has spearheaded the capital city-based outfit’s attack in recent games, but the Zimbabwean is yet to open his goal scoring account this season. However, Modiba says the former Kaizer Chiefs striker has been putting up a good shift.
