Mngonyama leaves Cape Town City

Kwanda Mngonyama has made a u-turn to former club Maritzburg United from Cape Town City, the Team of Choice confirmed Thursday.

The central back returns to the KwaZulu-Natal outfit after spending a season with the Cape Town-based side.

“The club is delighted to confirm the signing of Kwanda Mngonyama from Cape Town City FC,” the announced on their Twitter page.

Mngonyama, who initially started his senior professional career at Mamelodi Sundowns couldn’t make the cut at the star-studded side.

And spent most of his time on loan starting at Bidvest Wits during the 2013/2014 season, before spending another three seasons on loan at Maritzburg.

The former junior national team player made a permanent move to Cape City last season, but it seems things didn’t go according to plan at Benni McCarthy-coached side.
