Maimane revealed that he called the club’s chairman John Comitis to congratulate coach Benni McCarthy’s men for beating SuperSport United on Saturday night at the Moses Mabhida stadium.
City won the top 8 trophy 4-1 on penalties after failing to convert all the chances they created in the first half.
“Just got off the phone with chairman and coach of Cape Town City Benni McCarthy, to congratulate them for a great win this weekend. It’s great for football in SA, and excellent for the city of Cape Town. Congrats to Cape Town City FC,” tweeted Maimane.
