Micho vows to help Mlambo get Bafana call-up

Orlando Pirates coach says he will do everything in his power to get Xola Mlambo to the national team.

There was a lot of outcry from fans when Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter left Mlambo out of the squad for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles.

“I’ve been a national team coach before. I know when 40 million Ugandans ask why you left that player (out). I have the highest degree of respect for Staurt Baxter. It is his opinion, it is his own responsibility. We cannot force (the national team coach to call up Mlambo),” Sredojevic told IOL.

“Our job is to motivate the player to perform, and try and convince the national team coach to call him. Our power ends there. Pointing fingers is wrong,” Sredojevic added.

South Africa are set to first host Seychelles at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The nations will meet again three days later at Stade Linite at 4.30pm local time (2.30pm SA time).
