The Tembisa-born attacker left Cape Town City at the start of the recently concluded 2017/18 season.
Manyama, a former Matsatsantsa player who spent three years at the club between 2013 and 2016, is said to be on his way back the Premier Soccer League and could join United.
Meanwhile, City chairman John Comitis has revealed he would love to have his former captain back in the Mother City.
