Sundowns youngster attracts interest

But Sundowns are not keen to sell their promising star to another PSL team.

A source at Mamelodi Sundowns has revealed that interest in the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge captain Promise Mkhuma has been there for the last three to four years, particularly from local clubs, but the Pretoria club won’t let their top talent join another PSL team.

Mkhuma, who is a South African junior national team player is said to be one of the promising stars to come out of the Downs academy, but there is a major concern he might not feature for Downs’ senior team.

“At the rate he is going, I really don’t blame these clubs wanting to sign him. He is a massive talent and the future looks bright. I personally think he should be playing regularly in the senior team already, but again, you know how we do things as South Africans, we wait for these players to turn 25 before they are able to get into the first team. But I think we might lose him to another club, but not a local club,” said the source.
