Sekhukhune set to give Truter the boot?

"Sekhukhune are going to announce the termination of Truter's contract on Monday," says a source.


Sekhukhune United are set to part ways with coach Brandon Truter, a source has revealed to Phakaaathi.

According to the source, the decision to let Truter go was taken after Babina Noko were dumped out of the Carling Black Label Knockout by TS Galaxy this past weekend.

Sekhukhune lost 4-2 on penalties to The Rockets at home at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. The game had to be decided on penalties after it finished 0-0 after extra time.

“Sekhukhune are going to have a meeting with Truter on Monday and thereafter announce the termination of his contract. The management is not happy with how things have turned out at the club under Truter this season especially in the league, so they have decided to let him go,” said the club insider.

“Yes, he has done well in Africa, but the most important thing is that the club wants to stay in the top league and it looks like Sekhukhune will fight for relegation under Truter even though they’re doing well in Africa,” added the source.

After leading Sekhukhune to the final of the Nedbank Cup last season, things have not gone well for Truter at Babina Noko this season. especially in the league.

They are currently, lying 11th on the DStv Premiership standings, having collected 11 points in 10 games. Of those 10 matches played, Sekhukhune won only three, drawn two and lost five.

Sekhukhune have done well though in their maiden Caf Confederation Cup under Truter and they’re currently in the group stages of the competition.

They’re in Group D win RSB Berkane of Morocco, Congo Brazzaville’s Diables Noirs and Stade Malien of Mali.
