According to a source, the trio does not feature in coach Micho Sredojevic’s plans and will make way for new recruits at Pirates.
Mabaso and Maphangule both made four appearances in all competitions this past season, while Mntambo played 15 times for the Buccaneers.
“As you can see, they did not contribute much in the team this season, but the problem is that they all have contracts and Pirates do not want to release them for free,” said the source.
“The Pirates management felt that a Chippa move would be good for them, especially for Mabaso and Mntambo, because they have already played for Chippa, so they know the set-up already down there in PE. As for Maphangule, he has good potential but the players in his position did well last season, so he will also be sent to Chippa to get game time,” added the source.
“Chippa and Pirates have often exchanged players over the last couple of seasons, so this is a continuation of that good working relationship.”
Phetso Maphanga, Gladwin Shitolo and Tercius Malepe spent this past season on loan at Chippa from Pirates.
