Orlando Pirates are set to release one of their goalkeepers next season and that is said to have upped the competition in the team.

“There have been rumours that the team will be cut comprehensively next season and that has made some of the players worried about their future at the club. The lack of success has forced management to come up with questions and now heads will roll.
“There have been concerns about the squad size and with nearly all the keepers on the wrong side of 30, there is a worry there will be no continuity when they retire and a young keeper might be brought in and that means one of the older guys will have to make way. But all these are still just rumours that have been heard here and there,” said the source.
Pirates currently have Jackson Mabokgwane (31, above), Siyabonga Mpontshane (32), Wayne Sandilands (35) and Brilliant Khuzwayo (29).
