Pirates set to offer midfielder new deal

'I don’t think there is anyone who has not been impressed by Makhaula since he joined the club,' a source told the Mgosi squad.

Orlando Pirates hard- working midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula is set for contract negotiations with the club, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.

With Makhaula’s contract coming to an end, the January transfer window will give the player the freedom to sign with any suitors.

I trying to block any possible teams trying to lure the midfielder out of Orlando, it is said that the Bucs management are already aware of Makhaula’s situation and are prepared to hand him a contract extension.

The former AmaZulu FC captain is said to have impressed the technical team at Pirates, who have praised his commitment to the club and determination to do well whenever he is given a chance to play.

The 33 year-old defensive midfielder joined the Buccaneers in January from Usuthu.

“I don’t think there is anyone who has not been impressed by Makhaula since he joined the club. He started slow, but once he got to adjust we began to see how good he is and why he brought to Pirates,” said the source.

‘Work ethic’

” He is really good player who is very serious about his work. His work ethic says a lot about him, I think that’s why coach Riveiro (Jose) likes him so much,”

“His contract is coming to an end next year in June, so, here has to be talks regarding a contract extension. I heard that the people who deal with such stuff are already preparing something for him.

“It’s too early, I know, but you have to act quickly when it comes to such stuff. You don’t even want to make the player think otherwise and let him have deals with other teams.”
