Maritzburg preparing offer for Sandilands

Maritzburg United are eyeing former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands as they look to rebuild their team for next season.

A source in Pietermaritzburg where the team is based has revealed to Phakaaathi that the club are preparing an offer for the keeper who became a free agent after his deal with the Brazilians expired on June 30.

“Sandilands could be key for the team as he is one of the most experienced keepers around. The team could benefit greatly from him but it will depend on whether he accepts their offer,” said the source.

Sandilands has been playing as a stop gap when both Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene were unavailable over the past three seasons.

The Team of Choice have lost two influential players in Kurt Lentjies and Philani Zulu but have also snapped up Mxolisi Kunene who was released by Baroka FC. Lentjies is set to join Chippa United while Zulu has officially joined Kaizer Chiefs.
