Manyisa to lose captain’s armband

A source Orlando Pirates has said that midfielder Oupa Manyisa might lose his role as the club's captain following complaints from team-mates and club officials regarding his leadership qualities.

Manyisa, who has captained Pirates for the last two seasons is having fingers pointed at him for the club’s poor display in the last two seasons. It is said that Manyisa is unable to unite the players and some don’t even take him seriously.

“This is a big issue at the club, there is no one who is satisfied with his leadership. He is a good player but he hasn’t been performing well in the last couple of months on the pitch and in his duties as the club’s captain. He barely speaks, he can’t even motivate players when they are down. Should it be decided that they take the belt away from him, Thabo Matlaba or Happy Jele will take over,” said the source.
