Hunt smiling all the way to the bank after massive pay out from Chippa?

Hunt was sacked by Chippa last week.

Gavin Hunt is said to have walked away with a massive pay out from Chippa United, this is after the Eastern Cape outfit chairman Siviwe Mpengesi decided to cut his two-year contract short following a string of poor results.

Hunt was placed on suspension by the club, prior to the official announcement of his departure last week.

This was the second short stay at a club by the former Bidvest Wits coach, who also had a poor spell taking charge of one of the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, before moving to Chippa.

At Amakhosi, Hunt got the team to the Champions League semifinals, but they were close to the relegation spots in the Dstv Premiership table, forcing the management at the Naturena based club to sack him.

According to a source at Chippa, Hunt‚ who won three league titles with SuperSport United and one with Wits‚ knew that his time with the club was coming to an end when they announced his suspension, but he also knew that he would be walking a heavy pay cheque.

“Well, you know in football you don’t just fire someone who has a contract. The coach has walked away with a huge amount of money, this was something that was also in his contract – that should he be shown the door before his contract comes to an end, the club is going to pay him,” said the source.
