Gavin Hunt’s future at Chippa not guaranteed anymore

A source says Chippa Mpengesi feels he has been patient enough.

Chippa Mpengesi’s patience with his head coach Gavin Hunt is starting to wear thin, Phakaathi has learnt.

A source says Chippa United owner Mpengesi feels he has been patient enough, and now wants to fix things before they get too bad.

“He is worried that while things look promising in one game, they crash and burn in the next, and it seems there is very little progression,” said the source.

According to another source, however, Hunt could be given at least 18 games before he is fired.

“There are players that Hunt wanted and the team could not get them. They will try again in January to reinforce the team and see from there what happens. If after three or so games into the second half of the season there is still no change, that’s when he could be fired,” said the source.

Chippa could not make the most of their home ground advantage as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Maritzburg United last weekend.

As a result of the draw, Chippa remained 14th on the log standings on seven points after 10 games.

Of the 10 games played, the Chilli Boys have only won one, drawn four and lost five.
