Orlando Pirates tried to lure Fadlu Davids back to the club, but were turned down by the Simba SC head coach.

According to a source, Pirates submitted an enticing offer to Davids, but he rejected it.

“Yes, it’s true that Pirates wanted Davids back. It was not only Pirates, Raja (Casablanca) also wanted him, but he wanted to remain with Simba. He says he still has some unfinished business with Simba. He has done well at Simba and the fans love him so he wants to stay at the club,” a source told the Mgosi Squad.

Davids is on the verge of making history by winning the CAF Confederation Cup. His Simba is currently in the final of the competition after beating Stellenbosch FC 1-0 on aggregate in the semifinals.

It is the second time that Davids has reached this stage of this continental competition, having done so with Pirates in 2022 as co-head coach with Mandla Ncikazi. They lost to RS Berkane on penalties.

It seems his good work with Simba has not gone unnoticed as both Pirates and Raja Casablanca have shown interest in him.

Meanwhile, as previously reported Rulani Mokwena is the leading candidate to replace Jose Riveiro as head coach of Pirates.
