City snap up former Pirates player

Former Orlando Pirates and Chippa United defender-cum-midfielder Mpho Mvelase has joined Polokwane City, a source has confirmed to Phakaaathi.

According to the source, the 29-year-old joined Rise and Shine last week after impressing coach Josep Vukusic during a trial at the club.

“It’s true that Mvelase has joined City. The coach wanted to solidify the defence, which has been doing rather well this season compared to last and Mvelase comes with lots of experience having played for the likes of Chippa and Pirates,” said the source.

He joins City as a free agent after parting ways with National First Division side Royal Eagles at the end of last season.

Mvelase started his professional career with United FC in 2012 before joining Chippa two years later.

He has also played for Pirates and as stated before, he also played for Eagles in the NFD last season.
