Chilean FA to lure Allende away from Sundowns?

A reliable source has told this publication that the Federación de Fútbol de Chile are planning to lure Marcelo Allende from Mamelodi Sundowns as they believe that their budding star is not positioned in the right league.

For some reason, the Chilean FA want the 23-year-old to ply his trade in Europe in order for him to “expose his talent” to bigger teams.

Allende, who surprisingly chose Sundowns over offers in Brazil and small teams in Europe, has been part of the Chilean national team and also represented that nation’s junior teams.

“This one is going to be a tough battle because the association wants to get involved,” said the source.

“But Sundowns paid good money for him and he is understood to be one of their highest paid players.”

“The player has an agent, who saw fit to have Allende move to South Africa, but now the FA appears to have managed to swing his arm into agreeing to find Allende a bigger team than Sundowns,” added the source.

Allende reportedly joined Sundowns for a fee estimated to be about R50-million, and the midfield maestro has enjoyed a lot of game time since Rulani Mokwena was promoted to the position of sole head coach in October last year.

Before joining Sundowns, the 23-year-old spent three seasons at Montevideo City.
