Chiefs youngster wants to be given a chance

A source close to Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khotso Malope has revealed to Phakaaathi that the midfielder feels he has not been given a fair chance since his return to the club in the start of this season.

Malope has only made four appearances for the club this term, finding it difficult to break into the first XI.

“When a player does not get enough game time at a club, that doesn’t sit well with him because his morale goes down. He has been asking himself questions, like what it is he is expected to work on. But I know he is always working hard at training as he tries to prove his worth, but that has not been appreciated or acknowledged by the technical team. He usually gives good performances in friendly matches, but still he has been overlooked by the technical team,” said the source.

Another source at the club, however, has a different opinion on why Malepe has not been playing.

“Look, the team have been under pressure for the last two years, and the coaches didn’t want to field young players, especially new ones, to carry such a huge responsibility to deliver trophies and help revive the team. Kgotso is still a fantastic player and he will get his chance to play,” said the source.
