Buchanan set to stay at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are highly unlikely to release Keagan Buchanan to Maritzburg United.

United chairman Farouk Kadodia has made it public he wants the unused midfielder at his KwaZulu-Natal based team next year.

Maritzburg apparently tried to get the 25-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic to join them in June but were told he was in coach Steve Komphela’s plans for this season.

“I don’t see it happening. Maritzburg chairman was tarnishing the team’s (Chiefs’) name just recently with his wild claims about Wiseman Meyiwa’s age. That has killed any little chance there was of the two teams reaching an agreement. But this is football and you can never be sure of anything these days,” said a source.
