Usuthu are said to be having numerous planning meetings where the technical team have revealed their wish list.
A Phakaaathi source has revealed that Teko Modise is among the players the coach Joey Antipas has on his wish list.
“He is unlikely to have him though because his wages will be too high for the team. No final decision has been made though,” said the source.
Modise became a free agent after his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns ended last month and has reportedly said he is willing to take a pay cut at another team.
Another player Usuthu wanted was Orlando Pirates’ Thabo Rakhale but Phakaaathi understands that the Buccaneers refused the offer.
“Yes Rakhale was one of the players we wished for. We need a creative player and he was seen as a perfect candidate plus he has the experience we need. But Pirates didn’t even want to listen to the offer,” added the source.
Usuthu have however managed to get righ back, Thembela Sikhakhane from Pirates. Sikhakhane, who played a limited number of matches for Bucs last season, is expected to complete his move back to Durban on Tuesday or Wednesday.
