Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung confirmed that the midfielder was unable to continue with his football career after sustaining injuries to his spinal cord in a car accident last year in November.
PSL COO Ronnie Schloss said the 19-year-old would receive money from the league and half of the payout would be given to Chiefs.
Schloss says the amount Meyiwa is set to receive will be determined by Meyiwa’s salary and the length of his contract.
“Yes, he’ll be paid because we have a permanent disability cover (in the PSL),” Schloss was quoted by SundaySun. “In this case, yes, Kaizer Chiefs will get half of whatever it is. How much he’ll be paid will be based on how much he was earning at his club. And that’s calculated according to the length of his contract.”
