McCarthy believes his side needs to sign three more players before their first game of the 2019/2020 season. The former Bafana Bafana striker says he will discuss signing Makola with club chairman John Comitis and hopes he will be given money to sign the midfielder.
Makola was released from the Sea Robbers as a free agent after his contract with the club expired at the end of the season.
McCarthy reckons it will be cheaper to sign Makola as a free agent and is confident the chairman will give the midfielder’s deal the green light.
“I have three or four players that I would like to bring in. Mpho Makola has been released. I know he comes at a heavy price with the salary cap if you are not paying a transfer fee it’s affordable,” McCarthy told MarawaTV.
“In my last days of playing I was fortunate enough to share a dressing room and the field with this kid and I think he is an unbelievable talent. Probably one of the special talents we got here.”
