Kaizer Chiefs defender Erick Mathoho has revealed that the two consecutive red cards he received at club and international level affected him.

The 27-year-old also admitted that his game was suffering as a result of personal problems.
Mathoho was highly criticised as he seemed to drop standards for Amakhosi and at times conceded clumsy free kicks and penalties.

“I am over everything now. I know I was going through a phase and my game was suffering but I am over those things now. I am looking forward to getting back to my best next year,” said Mathoho.
Mathoho also supported coach Steve Komphela’s statement he made after a recent draw where he said he felt some of the Amakhosi players do not know what it means wearing the club’s shirt.
“The coach is a like a father to us and he always supports us. If he says something like that, it is to build us,” he said.
