Mashego reflects on ‘painful’ Sundowns defeat to Galaxy

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego has reflected on yet another penalty shoot-out defeat, two weeks after losing to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final.

This time, The Brazilians were knocked out of the Carling Knockout by TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday.
Sundowns will now turn their attention to the newly formed African Football League looking to shake off the disappointment of the two domestic cup competitions.
They are away to Angolan giants Petro de Luanda on Saturday as the hunt for another piece of silverware begins in the quarter-final of the inaugural competition.
“It’s so painful because we have been practising penalties at training. Now we had to lose the second game in a space of few days. I won’t lie, it’s so painful,” The 27-year-old said.

“Honestly, it was a difficult game, especially in the second half. We got a red card so we were one man down, but we had to fight.
“We played so well and created so many opportunities. The team fought so hard, and I would say that on a different day, we deserved to win this game but unfortunately, we lost it on penalties.”
Rulani Mokwena will welcome back Bafana Bafana players Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, Mothobi Mvala, Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and his captain Themba Zwane.
