In a TV interview after their DStv Premiership match last weekend, Mammila mentioned that Martin had insulted him but chose not to disclose the exact words used by the Spanish coach.
Mammila expressed his disappointment, saying, “I’m just disappointed when a coach from an opponent insults me.
“I’m too old to be insulted by another coach, but that’s a story for another day. I was talking to the referees, and I’m even embarrassed to repeat what he said on TV.
“I was never taught to respond in kind. My grandmother would be furious if I used those words. She raised me well.”
Martins makes counterclaims against Mammila
On the other hand, Martin firmly denied Mammila’s claims, asserting that he has never insulted a fellow coach throughout his 23-year coaching career.
“I want to kill this because it’s not good for football that we’re even talking about it,” said Martin this week.
“But as you have asked, I want to take advantage and say something because we cannot allow anyone to say anything that is not true.
“I can tell you that I am a well-educated guy. And I thank God for the parents I have and the education they gave me.
“I can tell you that in 23 years of my career, I have never insulted a colleague,” explained Martin.
“There’s tension sometimes, yes. This is football but never insulting. And when somebody is lying and taking advantage and saying things that probably he was the one saying and not me, I have to defend myself.
